OnePlus is preparing to launch its first smartphone under the new N series in India, and early details suggest the company is placing a strong focus on battery performance. The OnePlus N6, scheduled to debut later this month, will feature the same battery capacity as the higher-priced OnePlus Nord CE 6, despite being positioned lower in the brand’s lineup.
The announcement adds clarity to how OnePlus plans to differentiate its product tiers, with the N series expected to replace the Nord lineup as the company’s most affordable offering in the Indian market.
Launch
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus N6 will launch in India on June 30 at 12 pm IST. The smartphone will be sold exclusively via Amazon and will be available in black and green colour options.
The company has also indicated that the device will be priced between Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 25,000, placing it well below the Nord CE 6, which starts at Rs. 29,999 for the base variant.
Battery
The key highlight of the OnePlus N6 is its battery. In a post shared on X, OnePlus confirmed that the phone will be equipped with an 8,000mAh battery. This matches the capacity of the OnePlus Nord CE 6, making it unusual for a more affordable model to share such a specification with a higher-end sibling.
OnePlus claims the battery is the largest in the sub-Rs. 25,000 segment. The company also says the phone can deliver up to three days of battery life on a single charge, depending on usage. In addition, the battery is claimed to retain health for up to seven years, suggesting a focus on long-term durability.
Positioning
The OnePlus N series is being introduced as a tier below the Nord lineup. At present, the Nord CE 6 Lite is the company’s most affordable phone in India and comes with a 7,000mAh battery. With the arrival of the N series, OnePlus is expected to reposition the Nord range slightly higher, while the N lineup takes over the entry-level segment.
The N6 will be the first device under this new branding strategy, making it an important test case for OnePlus in the competitive mid-range market.
Design
Official images shared by the company show that the OnePlus N6 will feature a flat rear panel with a square-shaped camera module positioned in the top-left corner. The OnePlus logo sits centrally on the back panel.
The phone appears to have a clean and minimal layout. The power button and volume keys are located on the right side, while the left side remains uncluttered. At the bottom, a USB Type-C port is placed between the speaker grille and the SIM tray.
Expectations
While OnePlus has not yet disclosed the full specifications of the N6, the emphasis on battery life suggests the phone is aimed at users who prioritise endurance over premium features. More details regarding the processor, display, cameras, and charging capabilities are expected to be revealed closer to launch.
If priced competitively, the OnePlus N6 could appeal to buyers looking for long battery life from a well-known brand without moving into the higher price brackets of the Nord or flagship series.
