Bookings for the new model are now open. Deliveries of the PHEV are scheduled to begin in September, while the EV version is expected to follow in November.

The 2026 MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV is available in two variants – Exclusive and Essence.
Unlike the EV version, which offers both five-seat and seven-seat configurations, the PHEV is available exclusively as a seven-seater.
This makes the PHEV particularly relevant for buyers looking for a larger family SUV with electrified powertrain technology and three-row seating.

Its dimensions place it firmly in the large SUV category, while the three-row configuration is aimed at buyers who regularly need additional seating capacity.
The SUV has a 52-litre fuel tank. Boot capacity varies depending on how the third row is used.
With all three rows in place, boot space is rated at 192 litres. Folding the third row increases the available luggage capacity to 528 litres.

Powertrain
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine operating on the Atkinson cycle.
The engine is paired with a 20.5kWh battery pack and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission, or DHT, which sends power to the wheels.
The larger battery is one of the key differences between a conventional hybrid setup and this plug-in hybrid configuration. It allows the SUV to travel using electric power for a claimed distance of up to 115km.
For longer journeys, the petrol engine and electric system work together. MG claims a combined driving range of up to 1,100km.
The claimed electric range could make the PHEV suitable for buyers who have access to regular charging and want to use electric power for shorter daily journeys while retaining the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer trips.
