Renault India has introduced a turbo-petrol version of the Triber, addressing one of the model’s key areas of focus with a more powerful engine. The new Renault Triber Turbo is priced from Rs. 7.84 lakh, ex-showroom, and is available in three variants.
The updated model retains the familiar Triber design and seven-seat layout while moving to Renault’s RGEP platform. The biggest change is under the bonnet, where the naturally aspirated petrol engine is replaced by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit.
Renault has also made several mechanical and electronic changes to support the new powertrain. Here is what buyers need to know about the new Triber Turbo, including its engine, claimed mileage, variants and prices.
Engine
The Renault Triber Turbo uses a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TCe turbo-petrol engine.
The engine produces 99bhp and 180Nm of torque and is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The turbocharged setup gives the Triber a significant increase in torque compared with the standard naturally aspirated petrol configuration.
The 180Nm torque figure is particularly relevant for a seven-seat vehicle because additional torque can make acceleration and overtaking more manageable when the vehicle is carrying passengers and luggage.
Renault has currently introduced the turbo-petrol powertrain with a manual transmission. The company has not detailed other powertrain versions at this stage.
Mileage
Renault claims a fuel efficiency figure of 21kmpl for the new Triber Turbo.
Fuel economy in everyday driving can vary depending on traffic, road conditions, driving style, passenger load and other factors. The claimed figure therefore provides a standardized reference rather than a guarantee of real-world consumption.
The combination of a small-displacement turbocharged engine and a five-speed manual transmission is intended to balance performance with fuel efficiency.
Platform
The new Triber Turbo moves to Renault’s RGEP platform, although the exterior design remains familiar.
The transition to the updated platform is accompanied by several changes underneath the vehicle. Renault has revised the suspension tuning and anti-roll bars while also introducing structural enhancements.
The company has also made changes to the vehicle’s thermal management system and braking performance.
These updates are intended to support the new engine and maintain the vehicle’s driving and safety characteristics with the turbocharged powertrain.
Safety
Renault has revised several electronic control systems on the turbocharged Triber.
The changes include updated settings for the anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control system (TCS) and vehicle dynamic control (VDC).
The braking system has also been improved, while the revised suspension and structural changes form part of the broader mechanical updates.
These changes distinguish the Turbo version from a simple engine replacement. Renault has made adjustments to several areas of the vehicle to accommodate the new powertrain.
Variants
The Renault Triber Turbo is available in three variants: Evolution, Techno and Emotion.
All three versions use the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and five-speed manual transmission.

The price difference between the entry-level Evolution and the top-spec Emotion is Rs. 1.15 lakh, before factoring in registration, insurance and other on-road costs.
Design
Visually, the turbocharged Triber retains the same overall top-hat as the existing model.
That means buyers should not expect a major exterior redesign simply because the new powertrain has been introduced. The principal changes are mechanical and structural rather than a complete change to the vehicle’s appearance.
This approach allows Renault to retain the Triber’s existing compact MPV proportions while adding the new engine and associated hardware.
Future
Renault has not yet confirmed all possible future versions of the turbocharged Triber.
The company could expand the powertrain range, with CNG and CVT versions expected to be considered for the model. However, until Renault officially confirms these variants, their specifications, prices and launch timelines remain unconfirmed.
For now, the Triber Turbo is available with the 1.0-litre TCe engine and a five-speed manual gearbox across the three listed variants.
Pricing
With an entry price of Rs. 7.84 lakh, the Renault Triber Turbo brings a more powerful petrol engine to the model’s lineup without changing its familiar exterior design.
The 99bhp engine produces 180Nm and comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 21kmpl. Alongside the new engine, Renault has revised the suspension, braking, structural components and electronic control systems.
