Display
The Redmi 17C 5G features a large 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which can make scrolling and compatible animations appear smoother.
The screen offers up to 810 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode and supports a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz. It can reproduce 16.7 million colours and covers 83 percent of the NTSC colour gamut.
Xiaomi has also included TÜV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Circadian Friendly and Flicker Free performance. These features are aimed at making extended screen use more comfortable.
Performance
Under the hood, the Redmi 17C 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. The octa-core processor reaches clock speeds of up to 2.4GHz and is paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
The phone is available with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Redmi also supports virtual RAM expansion of up to 6GB, while storage can be expanded by up to 1TB using a microSD card.
For everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging, streaming and social media, the combination of the Dimensity chipset and 120Hz display is designed to provide a responsive experience.
Cameras
The Redmi 17C 5G uses a single 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The main camera can record video at up to 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second.
On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls. The camera software includes features such as HDR, Portrait, Night and Time-lapse modes.
Redmi has also added a soft-light ring feature, giving users another option when taking selfies or making video calls in low-light surroundings.
Battery
Battery life is one of the key features of the Redmi 17C 5G. The smartphone packs a 6,000mAh battery, which is larger than what is commonly found in many compact budget phones.
It supports 33W wired fast charging. The combination of the large battery and efficient Dimensity 6300 chipset is aimed at reducing the need for frequent charging during normal daily use.
Software
The Redmi 17C 5G runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. This brings Xiaomi’s latest software interface to the handset along with the features and customisation options offered through HyperOS.
For security, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device also carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and water splashes.
Connectivity
The handset supports 5G and 4G LTE networks along with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4. It uses a USB Type-C port and also supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou positioning systems.
The dual-SIM phone includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer and e-compass among its onboard sensors. These features support functions such as automatic brightness adjustment, motion detection and navigation.
Design
Despite its large battery and 6.9-inch display, the Redmi 17C 5G measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 7.99mm and weighs approximately 211 grams.
The smartphone is available in Coffee Brew, Dark Night and Purple Dawn colourways. Its relatively slim 7.99mm profile keeps the design manageable despite the large screen and battery.
Overall, the Redmi 17C 5G brings together a 120Hz 6.9-inch display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, 50-megapixel camera and 6,000mAh battery. With prices starting at Rs. 20,999, its specifications put the focus on display size, battery capacity and 5G connectivity. The phone will be available in India from October 7 through Amazon and Xiaomi’s online store.
