Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17C 5G in Singapore as a new budget smartphone featuring a large 6.9-inch display, MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset and a 6,000mAh battery. The handset also supports 5G connectivity and runs Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3 software based on Android 16.
The phone is offered with up to 4GB of physical RAM and 128GB of storage, along with a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.
The Redmi 17C 5G has also previously appeared on India’s BIS certification website with model number 2607FRNEAI. However, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed an India launch date or announced whether the smartphone will be sold in the country.
Price
The Redmi 17C 5G is priced at SGD 279, which is approximately Rs. 20,900, for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage version in Singapore.
Xiaomi also lists a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration, although the product page does not provide a separate price for this variant.
The smartphone is available in three colour options: Black, Brown and Purple.

Pricing and storage configurations can vary between markets, so the Singapore price should not be treated as an indication of the eventual India price.
Display
The Redmi 17C 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1600×720 pixels.
The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz screens.
Xiaomi claims peak brightness of up to 810 nits, while the touch sampling rate can reach 240Hz.
The display also includes Reading mode and DC dimming. It carries TÜV Rheinland certifications intended to address eye comfort during use.
For a budget handset, the combination of a large screen and 120Hz refresh rate is one of the more notable specifications.
Performance
The Redmi 17C 5G is powered by the 6nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. Graphics processing is handled by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
The phone comes with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Xiaomi notes that memory and storage configurations can differ depending on the market.
The handset runs Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
The Dimensity 6300 is designed for affordable 5G smartphones, giving the Redmi 17C 5G support for next-generation cellular networks while keeping the device in the budget segment.
Cameras
For photography, the Redmi 17C 5G has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture.
The front-facing camera has an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture.
Both cameras can record video at 1080p and 720p resolution at 30 frames per second. Camera software features include HDR, Night and Portrait modes.
The camera setup is relatively straightforward, with Xiaomi focusing on a high-resolution main rear sensor rather than a more extensive multi-camera arrangement.
Battery
Battery capacity is one of the Redmi 17C 5G’s main features. Xiaomi has equipped the phone with a 6,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.
The company says the battery can retain at least 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,000 full charging cycles.
A 6,000mAh battery combined with the phone’s budget-oriented hardware should provide considerable capacity for everyday use, although actual battery life will vary depending on network conditions, display settings and usage patterns.
Connectivity
The Redmi 17C 5G supports 5G, 4G, 3G and 2G networks. It also includes dual-SIM functionality, microSD expansion, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4.
Other connectivity features include NFC and a USB Type-C port.
For navigation, the phone supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. Sensors include an accelerometer, electronic compass, ambient light sensor and virtual proximity sensor.
The handset also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports FM radio. Xiaomi says it can provide a 200 percent volume boost.
Design
The Redmi 17C 5G measures 171.56mm x 79.47mm x 8.05mm and weighs 211 grams.
The phone has an IP64 rating, providing protection against dust and water splashes.
Another feature is Wet Touch Technology 2.0. According to Xiaomi, this allows the display to respond to touch even when a user’s hands are damp, oily or soapy.
For security, the device includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI-based face unlock.
India
The Redmi 17C 5G has previously appeared on India’s BIS certification website under model number 2607FRNEAI. Such certification can indicate that a device is being prepared for a market, but it does not by itself confirm a launch date.
Xiaomi has not announced when the Redmi 17C 5G will arrive in India, nor has it confirmed Indian pricing or configurations.
For now, Singapore remains the confirmed launch market. The device combines a large 120Hz display, Dimensity 6300 processor, 5G connectivity and a 6,000mAh battery in a budget-focused package. Its eventual positioning in India, if launched, will depend on the local price, storage variants and Xiaomi’s broader Redmi lineup.
