The iQOO 16 is set to make its debut in China later this month, giving the Vivo sub-brand another flagship to compete in the premium smartphone segment. The phone will be introduced alongside the iQOO Pad Ultra, which is positioned as the company’s flagship tablet. iQOO has now revealed more details about the upcoming handset, including its rear design, colour option and an important camera upgrade.
The latest teaser shows that iQOO has made noticeable changes to the camera island while retaining the flat design language seen on the previous model. The company has also highlighted a 100x telephoto capability, suggesting that zoom photography will be one of the key areas of focus for the new flagship.
Design
The iQOO 16 continues with a flat rear panel, but its camera module gets a fresh treatment. The three rear lenses sit inside a square-shaped camera deco with a raised outer boundary.
According to the translated description shared by iQOO, the new arrangement features a “robotic arm” design connecting the three cameras. The layout is also said to create a “navigator” symbol, giving the camera section a distinct visual identity.
The rear panel will use glass and feature a new “hexagonal tech pattern”. iQOO has confirmed at least one colour option called Light Chasing. This finish appears to follow a similar design approach to the Apex Edition offered with the iQOO 15.
Cameras
Camera performance appears to be one of the biggest changes coming to the iQOO 16. The image shared by the company clearly carries “100x tele lens” text inside the camera module.
This indicates support for up to 100x digital zoom. While the company has not provided all camera specifications yet, the handset is shown with three rear cameras. The setup is expected to include a primary sensor, an ultrawide camera and a periscope telephoto camera.
The addition of 100x zoom could make the telephoto camera a major selling point. It also gives the iQOO 16 a more camera-focused approach compared with simply upgrading its processing hardware.

The iQOO 16 is confirmed to use a new Snapdragon 8 Elite series flagship chipset. This will place the phone among the more powerful Android devices in its segment.

Controls
The latest design images also reveal the phone’s physical layout. The power key and volume buttons are positioned on the right side of the handset.
Multiple antenna bands can also be seen around the metal mid-frame. The phone is expected to use a flat metal frame, continuing the increasingly common flat-sided design found across modern flagship smartphones.
The LED flash sits outside the main camera deco rather than being integrated directly beside the lenses. This separation gives the rear camera area a somewhat different appearance from the previous generation.

iQOO has already confirmed that the iQOO 16 will launch in China toward the end of September. The device will arrive alongside the iQOO Pad Ultra, making the event an important launch for the company’s premium product lineup.
