Mahindra BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition

Mahindra has introduced the BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition in India, adding another special version to its electric SUV lineup. The new edition is available in two variants and is offered exclusively with the larger 79kWh battery pack.

Bookings are now open, while deliveries are scheduled to begin on 26 August. Prices start at Rs. 24.45 lakh for the Three variant and go up to Rs. 26.95 lakh for the fully equipped Four variant. Both prices exclude the charger.

Variants

The BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition is offered in two versions: Three and Four. Both are based on the Formula E trim and come with the 79kWh battery pack.

Unlike the recently introduced Sporteq Edition, the Formula E Freedom Edition gets the two-screen halo layout as standard across both variants.

The larger battery is the only powertrain option available with this edition, keeping the range and performance consistent across the two variants.

Exterior

Mahindra has not made any major exterior design changes for the Freedom Edition. The SUV continues with the styling associated with the BE6 Formula E range.

It is available in four colour choices, including a new Rosso Impulso shade. The new colour provides a visual distinction without altering the overall exterior design.

The special edition is therefore focused more on equipment and trim-specific features than on substantial cosmetic changes.

Interior

The interior is offered in a black and Firestorm Orange colour combination. This colour scheme is available on both Formula E versions.

The cabin also gets the two-screen halo layout as standard. This is one of the notable differences from the Sporteq Edition, which offers a different equipment configuration.

The Formula E Freedom Edition Three includes features such as an infinity roof, LED daytime running light animation, a powered driver’s seat with memory function, adaptive suspension, carpet lamps and virtual engine sounds.

Features

The higher-spec Four variant adds several additional technologies and convenience features.

These include Gemini support, a live head-up display and an automatic parking system. It also gets Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, a knee airbag and button start.

The Four variant further receives Capsense virtual engine sound technology.

With these additions, the Four variant is positioned as the more feature-rich version of the Freedom Edition, while the Three retains a substantial equipment list.

Battery

The BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition is available only with Mahindra’s 79kWh battery pack.

The battery is claimed to deliver a range of 683km. As with other claimed range figures, the actual distance achieved can vary depending on driving conditions, traffic, weather, speed and use of climate control.

The electric SUV uses a single motor that drives the rear wheels. The setup produces 281bhp and 380Nm of torque.

The rear-wheel-drive configuration and relatively high power output give the BE6 a performance-oriented character while retaining its focus on electric efficiency.

Delivery

Bookings for the Mahindra BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition have opened, with deliveries scheduled to start on 26 August.

The launch expands Mahindra’s range of special BE6 editions and gives buyers another option centred on the 79kWh battery and Formula E-inspired equipment package.

For buyers considering the two variants, the main decision comes down to equipment. The Three already includes features such as adaptive suspension, a powered driver’s seat and the two-screen halo layout, while the Four adds more advanced technology and driver-assistance features.

Price

The Mahindra BE6 Formula E Freedom Edition is priced from Rs. 24.45 lakh for the Three variant. The Four variant costs Rs. 26.95 lakh.

Both prices are ex-showroom figures excluding the charger, according to the supplied details.

With its 79kWh battery, claimed 683km range and 281bhp rear-wheel-drive powertrain, the Freedom Edition adds another well-equipped option to the BE6 lineup. The first customer deliveries are expected from 26 August.
