Mercedes-Benz has expanded its G-Class lineup in India with the launch of the AMG G63 Offroad PRO at Rs. 3.80 crore. Offered in limited numbers, the new variant adds more specialised off-road hardware and a tougher exterior character to the high-performance G63.
The SUV combines AMG’s performance-focused powertrain with equipment designed for demanding terrain. It retains the familiar G-Class shape while adding dedicated suspension technology, off-road driving modes and expedition-style equipment.
Power
The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine.
The engine produces 585bhp and 850Nm of torque. Power is sent through a nine-speed automatic transmission, while Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system has been adapted with additional off-road controls for the Offroad PRO variant.
The combination gives the SUV the performance expected from an AMG model while supporting its focus on rough-terrain driving.
Suspension
A key feature of the G63 Offroad PRO is the AMG Active Ride Control suspension system.
The suspension is designed to improve wheel articulation and maintain stability when the SUV encounters uneven surfaces. This becomes particularly useful when driving over rocks, deep ruts or other challenging terrain where maintaining contact between the tyres and ground is important.
The model also gets AMG Traction PRO and AMG Active Balance Control off-road modes. These systems are intended to improve traction and stability in demanding driving conditions.
Off-Road
Mercedes-Benz has equipped the new variant with hardware and controls specifically aimed at all-terrain use.
The revised 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system works with the specialised AMG off-road controls, while the suspension technology helps the vehicle handle uneven terrain.
The SUV also features a Professional roof luggage rack, adding to its expedition-focused character. The equipment gives the G63 Offroad PRO a more utilitarian appearance while providing additional carrying capability for outdoor equipment.
Design
The G63 Offroad PRO retains the distinctive silhouette that has long defined the G-Class.
However, the special edition receives several AMG-specific exterior changes. These include flared wheel arches, a dedicated AMG bumper and a more aggressive front fascia.
The SUV also rides on unique 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke wheels finished in matte black.
Together, these elements give the Offroad PRO a more rugged appearance compared with the standard performance-oriented G63.
Interior
The cabin has also been adapted around the SUV’s off-road capabilities.
A new off-road cockpit layout on the dashboard provides access to the vehicle’s dedicated off-road functions. The controls have been strategically repositioned to make them easier to reach while driving on challenging surfaces.
This approach keeps the familiar premium character of the G-Class while giving greater prominence to the functions required for all-terrain driving.
Limited
The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO will be sold in limited numbers in India.
The restricted availability adds an element of exclusivity to the variant, which is positioned as a more specialised version of the G63 rather than simply another cosmetic edition.
With its combination of AMG performance, dedicated off-road technology and expedition-focused equipment, the model targets buyers looking for a G-Class with a stronger emphasis on all-terrain capability.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad PRO is priced at Rs. 3.80 crore in India.
At this price, the SUV sits firmly in the luxury performance segment and combines the G-Class’s established design with AMG’s V8 powertrain and specialised off-road equipment.
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said the company expects AMG G63 customers to be interested in the latest addition to the G63 range.
The launch gives Indian buyers another way to experience the G-Class, this time with equipment specifically developed around off-road driving. The 585bhp V8, AMG suspension technology, dedicated driving modes, roof rack and matte-black wheels distinguish the Offroad PRO from the regular G63 lineup.
