Honda’s New Electric SUV Reveals Dashboard in Spy Shots, and It’s a Big Shift for the Brand

Honda’s upcoming electric SUV, currently known by its internal name 0 Alpha, is gradually revealing more of itself ahead of its India launch. While earlier sightings focused largely on the exterior, the latest spy images shift attention inside the cabin. For the first time, the dashboard layout has been seen clearly, and it marks a notable change from Honda’s traditional interior design approach.

Although the final production name is yet to be confirmed, this model is set to become Honda’s first electric SUV for India. It is expected to be manufactured locally and launched during the 2026-27 financial year, with exports planned for several overseas markets as well.

Design

The most striking element of the dashboard is its clean and minimal layout. Honda appears to have moved away from the layered, button-heavy designs seen in its current line-up. Instead, the cabin adopts a simpler and more modern aesthetic, aligned with the expectations of an electric vehicle.

At the centre of the dashboard sits a large floating touchscreen, estimated to be over 14 inches in size. The display dominates the cabin visually and appears to run a new user interface. From early observations, the layout and graphics resemble Android-based systems, suggesting a more app-style experience than Honda’s existing infotainment software.

Controls

Despite the large touchscreen, Honda has retained physical controls where they matter most. Directly below the screen is a row of buttons and toggle-style switches, which are expected to manage climate control functions.

This decision should improve usability during daily driving, allowing drivers to adjust temperature and airflow without navigating multiple on-screen menus. It also reflects a growing industry trend of balancing touchscreen interfaces with essential physical controls.

Cluster

Behind the steering wheel, Honda has taken a different approach to the instrument display. Instead of a wide, conventional digital cluster, the SUV features a tall, vertically oriented screen integrated into the dashboard.

The display appears bright and colour-rich in the spy images and is likely to present driving information in a new format tailored for electric vehicles. The steering wheel itself is a new three-spoke design, with buttons on both sides to control key vehicle functions.

Exterior

While the focus of the latest sighting is the interior, the exterior design is still visible beneath Honda’s blue and purple camouflage. From the front and side, the SUV appears to have fairly conventional proportions, suggesting it will sit comfortably within the mid-size SUV segment.

The rear design, however, stands out. The SUV features a flat, wide rear windscreen, a squared-off tailgate, and a chunky rear bumper. This gives it a more upright and boxy look compared to Honda’s current global SUV offerings, and it may divide opinion once revealed in full.

Production

Honda has confirmed that this electric SUV will be built in India. The model is intended not only for the domestic market but also as an export product for multiple international regions.

This approach positions the SUV as a key part of Honda’s longer-term electric vehicle strategy, using India as a manufacturing base for its next generation of EVs.

Timeline

The launch of the electric SUV is expected in FY2026-27. When it arrives, it will mark the start of Honda’s new EV phase in India, with more electric models likely to follow.

While technical specifications such as battery size, range, and power output have not yet been revealed, the newly surfaced dashboard gives a clear indication of Honda’s direction. The brand appears to be prioritising modern technology, usability, and a distinct identity for its electric models.
