iQOO and Motorola have showcased their upcoming flagship smartphones at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026 in New Delhi, offering a glimpse of their next-generation devices. The iQOO 16 has been confirmed for an India launch, while Motorola has revealed key features of the Signature 27 ahead of its expected debut in the country.
Both smartphones are set to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, which is built on a 2nm process. However, the two brands are taking different approaches to highlighting their devices. iQOO has confirmed the software experience coming to its Indian model, while Motorola has focused on camera hardware, audio technology, connectivity and long-term software support.
Neither company has announced official Indian pricing or a confirmed retail availability date yet.
Launch
iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 16 will launch in India soon, following its September debut in China. The announcement at IMC 2026 also confirmed that the Indian version will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset.
The processor is built on a 2nm manufacturing process and includes Qualcomm’s next-generation Hexagon Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This platform is designed to support AI-powered features alongside demanding applications, gaming and everyday smartphone tasks.
The India launch confirmation gives potential buyers an early indication of what to expect from iQOO’s next flagship. However, the company has yet to reveal the exact launch date, pricing or complete specifications of the Indian variant.
The Chinese model may provide some clues about the hardware planned for India, but the final specifications should be confirmed when iQOO makes its official announcement.
Software
One of the biggest software developments for the iQOO 16 is its operating system. According to the company, the smartphone will be the first iQOO device to ship with OriginOS 7 out of the box.
The software is expected to bring productivity-oriented tools and intelligent features to the user experience. Combined with the new Snapdragon platform, these capabilities could help the device handle AI-assisted tasks and other demanding workloads.
However, iQOO has not yet detailed the full set of OriginOS 7 features that will be available on the Indian model. Information about the software’s long-term update policy and other India-specific features also remains unconfirmed.
Buyers will need to wait for the official launch announcement to learn more about the interface, pre-installed applications and the company’s software support plans.
Motorola
Motorola also used IMC 2026 to showcase its upcoming flagship, the Signature 27, confirming plans to bring the device to India. The smartphone will be powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform announced for the iQOO 16.
Beyond its processor, Motorola has highlighted the phone’s thermal management and connectivity systems. The Signature 27 will feature the company’s ArcticMesh Cooling System, designed to manage heat during demanding activities such as gaming, video recording and heavy multitasking.
The device will also include a six-antenna setup intended to improve network reception and connectivity. Actual performance will depend on factors such as network coverage, environmental conditions and usage.
Motorola has not yet revealed the complete specifications or pricing of the Signature 27 in India. More details, including its official launch date, are expected in the coming days.
Cameras
The Motorola Signature 27’s camera system is among its most notable features. The company has confirmed a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main camera sensor, accompanied by a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The high-resolution telephoto unit is designed to support zoom photography, allowing users to capture distant subjects. However, megapixel count alone does not determine image quality. Sensor size, lens design, image processing and stabilisation also play important roles.
Motorola says the camera system will include 3.5-axis optical image stabilisation, Qualcomm Electronic Image Stabilisation and the company’s Video Enhancement Engine. These technologies are intended to improve stability when capturing photos and recording videos.
Optical and electronic stabilisation use different methods to reduce the effects of hand movement. Their combined implementation could help users capture steadier footage, particularly when shooting while moving or using zoom. The real-world results will become clearer after independent testing.
The company has not yet provided a complete breakdown of the phone’s camera system, including all supporting sensors and the full range of available shooting modes.
Audio
Motorola has also highlighted the Signature 27’s audio capabilities. The company claims that the smartphone will be the first to feature Audio by Bang & Olufsen, marking a notable collaboration for its flagship lineup.
The partnership is expected to focus on the phone’s audio experience, although Motorola has not yet disclosed all the technical details or the complete set of audio features.
The handset will also include Google Gemini integration. This brings Google’s AI assistant into the software experience, potentially supporting tasks such as answering questions, summarising information and helping users complete supported activities.
The precise Gemini features available on the Signature 27 may depend on software configuration, regional availability and Google’s service requirements.
Updates
Long-term software support is another key highlight of the Motorola Signature 27. Motorola has promised seven years of operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates for the device.
If delivered as announced, this policy would give buyers an extended support window, allowing them to keep the phone for longer while receiving newer Android versions and security fixes.
The Signature 27 will run Android 17 out of the box, according to Motorola. The company has not yet provided a detailed schedule for future operating system releases, so the timing of individual updates remains to be confirmed.
For buyers comparing premium smartphones, long-term support can be an important consideration alongside camera performance, battery life, display quality and price.
Colours
Motorola has confirmed two finishes for the Signature 27: Pantone-certified Coal Smoke and Capulet Olive.
These colour options give the flagship a choice of darker and green-toned finishes. However, further details about the phone’s design, dimensions, weight and materials have not yet been fully disclosed.
The final retail colour selection and availability in India may also depend on the variants Motorola decides to sell locally.
Competition
The iQOO 16 and Motorola Signature 27 are preparing to enter India’s premium smartphone segment with a common focus on Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. Their shared platform suggests both devices will target users seeking high performance, although their final capabilities will depend on the complete hardware and software configurations.
The iQOO 16’s confirmed OriginOS 7 experience may appeal to buyers interested in the brand’s latest software features. Motorola, meanwhile, is highlighting its 200-megapixel periscope camera, Bang & Olufsen audio partnership, cooling system and seven-year update commitment.
Pricing will likely play a major role in determining how the two smartphones compare. Until the brands announce their Indian prices and full specifications, it is too early to draw firm conclusions about their relative value.
Both launches add to the growing competition in India’s flagship smartphone market. The iQOO 16 has an India launch confirmation, while Motorola has showcased the Signature 27 and outlined several of its headline features. Buyers will need to wait for the official announcements to compare prices, configurations and availability before making a decision.
